In-Service Training
K-9 Program
General Information:
The K-9 training program is designed to accommodate individual
department manpower needs. Patrol Dog, Detector Dog, Handler,
Instructor, Judge, and K-9 Unit Manager courses are offered.
A Handler may attend a 8 week Patrol Dog or 8 week Detector Dog course in
the regular format, or attend any combination of 8-hour modules. A Handler
may also attend a course in a sequence of modules if departmental needs do not allow an officer’s absence for regular course attendance.
Kennel accommodations for dogs are available on a first-come-first-served

No tuition is required for in-state officers. For out-of-state officers the cost
is $300.00 per course and is payable to POST for the Patrol Dog and
Detector Dog courses. Fees are due on or before the first day of the course.
